However, the body can’t always differentiate between a real threat and the pressure of daily life, hence the stress response is not always appropriate to the situation. In small amounts, stress or anxiety can help to alert and sharpen your senses. In more chronic cases, it can lead to emotional and physical discomfort and potentially long term problems.
